Do you feel like your success is missing something? Is it missing elements to make it easier, faster, and more enjoyable? Have you ever wondered if you should have a coach — a business coach, life coach or results coach?
The following article answers the question: What makes a coach great and suitable for you? As an additional value add, I’m including three complimentary books you must read at the bottom of this blog.
For decades, I’ve been fascinated by how a person decides in their self-talk how much advice they should seek to reach the next level.
By the way…
A few years back, I authored one of my favorite books, Advice Matters. In essence, the book’s message is yes, advice matters a ton. Take advice from those who have done it, are doing it, or both, based on what you want and need.
Coaching is the second of the six resources for getting extraordinary results discussed in Advice Matters. If you want to be intentional here, you’ll need to find the very best coach for you. People often ask me how to do that, and that’s what this section is all about.
Let’s start with a few main qualities I suggest you look for in a coach. You want to find:

I’ve learned a ton of what to do and, through experience, plenty of what not to do. I get to share all this with my clients and partners, living and doing what I love daily.

I recently published another little book called Are You Coachable? It includes an assessment (pages 24-26) strategically designed to help determine how coachable the reader is. I’ve included a complimentary downloadable copy for you to read, take the assessment, and share with a few colleagues who are high achievers like yourself.
Note: Are You Coachable also quickly explains my model on impactful advice and strategic remembering. See this video for a quick explanation of Strategic Remembering.
Do bad things ever happen to you? Yeah, me too. Yet when they do, something good often comes out of them, right? That could be considered serendipity. The dictionary defines serendipity as “finding valuable things not sought for.” Here’s what I said about it several years ago in my book Living in the Black (see below for a free download): “The whole idea […]

We’re convinced that most people don’t prepare to the level they could, so they don’t often end up with the results they’d like to have. We believe preparation is a significant overlooked factor in achieving long-term […]
Read More ➜One of my key concepts and the most liked of all my writings in over 30 years is the idea of “MOLO,” which stands for “More Of, Less Of.” MOLO is a powerful tool for ensuring clarity in an efficient, easy-to-utilize exercise. It involves identifying what you want more of and the things you want less of, and […]
